Asbestos screening

Welcome to the Screening and Management of Asbestos-related Disease: Resources for Primary Health Care.

The need for this resource was identifies and developed through a partnership to characteristic the burden of asbestos-related disease within two Aboriginal communities. This project was undertaken between James Cook University, The University of WA, Mawarnkarra Health Service and Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation.

This resource contains  a range of information and resources including:

  • A Clinical Pathway Guideline for the screening and management of people with asbestos-related disease.
  • Background information documenting the experiences of local Aboriginal people who worked with asbestos; a brief history of asbestos
  • Tools for patient smoking cessation/education and spirometry.
  • Readings for more information on asbestos related disease.
